RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS: Editor-in-Chief of the scholarly journal, Partner Abuse Supervisor of the Partner Abuse State of Knowledge Project, the world’s largest database of domestic violence research, available at www.domesticviolenceresearch.org. Author or co-author of 50+ book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, published in numerous journals, including Journal of Child Custody, Violence and Victims and Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Author/editor of four groundbreaking books, including Gender-Inclusive Treatment of Intimate Partner Abuse (Springer, 2014), and Gender and Domestic Violence: Contemporary Legal Practice and Intervention Reforms (Oxford University Press, 2022). CLINICAL EXPERIENCE: 35 years working with perpetrators, victims and their families, many through the Family Court system. Director of Alternative Behavior Choices court-approved perpetrator treatment program. TRAININGS: For the past 25 years, Dr. Hamel has frequently presented at conferences throughout the world, including the California Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and has provided education and clinical training to thousands of mental health professionals, family law attorney, evaluators and mediators, victim advocates social service organizations, and law enforcement.
